Six trades, two whole-house projects
Services
We carry out the work ourselves – and we tell you the order in which it makes sense. The two belong together.
01 Windows & Doors
Windows & Doors
Old windows rarely show their age in how they look – more often in the heating bill and the cold corner under the window sill.
We measure every opening individually, take out the old units, set the new ones and seal them airtight to the wall on all sides. Then we restore the reveals inside, so nothing needs finishing later.
What decides the outcome is not the glazing but this junction. That is where the damage begins that only shows years later – from the inside, on the wall.
And if the facade is due in the foreseeable future, we set the installation plane up for it now.
02 Roof
Roof
A roof rarely announces itself with a hole. More often it is a stain on a ceiling, or a loft that is unusable in summer.
We check the covering, the underlay membrane, the junctions and the insulation, and tell you whether a repair is enough or whether re-roofing is worth it.
What matters: the junctions at the chimney, the dormers and the verge. The open surface is rarely the problem – the transitions are.
And if scaffolding is up anyway, there is no cheaper moment for insulation and facade work.
03 Facade & Insulation
Facade & Insulation
Cold interior walls, render that keeps cracking, and heating costs that stay high despite new windows – that is usually the facade.
We check the substrate, choose the system to suit the building rather than the catalogue, and bring the insulation cleanly up to the windows, the plinth and the roof.
What matters: the transitions. Hardly anyone makes mistakes across the open surface – at the junctions, almost everyone does.
And the sequence: windows and facade need to be thought through together, even if they are not done at the same time.
04 Bathroom Modernisation
Bathroom Modernisation
The bathroom is where a house shows its age fastest – and the room where modernisation is most rewarding.
We take on everything: strip-out, pipework, waterproofing, tiling, sanitaryware, lighting. With no interfaces for anyone to hide behind afterwards.
What matters: the waterproofing beneath the tiles. It is invisible, it is the most expensive mistake, and it is the reason we hand nothing over to others here.
And if you are rebuilding anyway, we plan in what will matter in ten years while we are at it.
The sequence decides.
Windows, facade and heating depend on each other.
Replace the windows today and insulate in five years, and you build a problem into the wall: the window then sits in the wrong plane, and exactly there you get the thermal bridge you set out to remove.
You do not have to do everything at once. But you should know at the first step what the second will be.
That costs nothing except an hour of thought – beforehand.
Old render, insulation, reinforcement mesh, finishing render – each layer only works if the one before it is right.
05 Heating
Heating
A boiler that has lasted thirty years deserves respect – but by the end it is mostly heating the cellar.
We replace the heat generator, adapt the radiators, insulate the pipework and balance the system hydraulically.
What matters: the sizing. Oversized means permanently poorer efficiency – and you notice it on the bill every year.
That is why we never decide on the heating without looking at the building envelope.
06 Interior Fit-Out & Modernisation
Interior Fit-Out & Modernisation
Floor plans from 1975 rarely suit life today: doors that are too narrow, a bathroom next to the kitchen, wiring at its limit.
We open up, relocate, build new walls and do the floors, ceilings and finishes – coordinating the trades that sit in between.
What matters: knowing what is load-bearing and what is not before the first chase is cut.
And a plan of work that holds up even while the house is still being lived in.
07 Energy Retrofit
Energy Retrofit
A single measure on its own often disappoints: new windows in an uninsulated house deliver less than the brochure promises.
We look at the building envelope and the services together and tell you which sequence will actually pay off for your house – and what you can do without.
What matters: the heating is only sized once it is clear how well the house is insulated. Do it the other way round and you buy a system that never runs at capacity.
The building survey also covers which measures are eligible for public funding in principle.
08 Accessible Conversion
Accessible Conversion
The best time for an accessible conversion is before you need it.
We build level-access showers, widen doorways, take out thresholds and reinforce walls where grab rails might one day be fitted. In a lived-in house, with a schedule we agree with you beforehand.
What matters: the reinforcement inside the wall. Today it costs almost nothing; later it costs ten times as much, because the tiles have to come off again.
Throughout, we talk about living, not about care.
